Image to SVG Converter. One Tool For Every Format
Drop in a PNG, JPG, WEBP, or even a screenshot and get a clean scalable SVG back. The converter auto-tunes itself to the input format, so you don't pick threshold sliders or trace settings.
A format-agnostic image to SVG converter. The pre-trace stage detects the input format (PNG with alpha, JPG with compression noise, WEBP, screenshot) and applies the right cleanup pipeline before tracing. Output is standard SVG plus a companion R12 DXF for laser and CAD use. Free up to 5 conversions per IP per day, no signup required.
Five formats accepted
PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, and SVG. The converter picks the right pipeline for each.
Auto-tuned params
No threshold slider to guess. The AI picks tracing parameters based on the image's histogram and edge profile.
Auto-bridging
Floating cutouts (the centre of an O, dot above an i) are connected to the main outline.
Free 5/day per IP
No card, no signup. Five image-to-SVG conversions per IP per day. signed-in users get 30/day.
How to use the image to svg converter. one tool for every format
- 1
Upload any image
PNG, JPG, JPEG, WEBP, GIF, or an existing SVG (for re-simplification or auto-bridging). Up to 15 MB.
- 2
Auto-tuned cleanup
PNG: respect alpha. JPG: deblock + denoise. WEBP: handle either lossy or lossless. Screenshot: preserve sharp pixel boundaries. Each format gets its own pre-pass before tracing.
- 3
Trace and auto-bridge
Edges traced as smooth Bezier paths. Floating islands are bridged so stencils stay in one piece when cut.
- 4
Download SVG + DXF
Both files come out laser-ready at 150 mm wide, scale freely in any vector or laser program.
Why one converter handles every format
PNG, JPG, WEBP, and screenshots each carry their own kind of mess: PNG has alpha channels you probably want to keep, JPG has 8x8 compression seams that look like edges, WEBP straddles both, and screenshots have anti-aliased text and 1-pixel UI lines that need to survive intact. A naive image-to-SVG tool runs the same trace on all of them and gets the worst case for each. This converter detects what it's looking at, applies the right pre-pass (alpha-aware, deblock + denoise, or pixel-aligned), and only then runs the tracer.
When to pick this over a format-specific tool
If you don't know or care what format your image is in, this is the right tool. Drop it in and the right pipeline runs. If you specifically want PNG's alpha channel respected as the silhouette outline, use the [PNG to SVG](/png-to-svg) page instead. it skips the format-detection step and goes straight to alpha-aware tracing. JPG-heavy workflows (scanned sketches especially) lean toward the [JPG to SVG](/jpg-to-svg) page for the same reason.
Screenshots and UI assets
Screenshots are an underrated input. Designers, developers, and tutorial writers often need to vectorize a UI element they spotted somewhere, or rebuild a screenshot of a logo into editable form. The converter uses an integer-aligned tracer for screenshot inputs so 1-pixel horizontal and vertical lines stay perfectly horizontal and vertical in the output, instead of getting wobbly Beziers that turn pixel-art into mush.
What this is not the right tool for
Photographs (real-world scenes with continuous-tone subjects) produce noisy vector output regardless of input format. The right tool for those is the AI [photo-to-stencil](/photo-to-stencil) pipeline, which isolates the subject and removes background before tracing. The right tool for full-colour vector illustrations of photos doesn't exist. that's a different problem.
Output details
SVG output is standard, with closed filled paths in the conventional fill-rule order. Opens in every browser, Inkscape, Illustrator, Figma, Sketch, Affinity Designer, Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio, and the Glowforge App. The companion DXF is R12 / AC1009 with POLYLINE + VERTEX entities for the broadest CAD and laser-controller compatibility. both files default to 150 mm wide.

What image formats can I upload?
PNG, JPG/JPEG, WEBP, GIF, and SVG. Max 15 MB per file. Indexed-colour, RGBA, and greyscale all accepted.
Does the converter pick different settings per format?
Yes. PNG runs alpha-aware tracing, JPG runs a deblock + denoise pre-pass, WEBP detects lossy vs lossless and routes accordingly, and screenshots use a pixel-aligned tracer so 1-pixel UI lines stay sharp.
Why upload an SVG to an SVG converter?
Useful for two cases: re-simplifying an SVG that has thousands of tiny paths (e.g. from another vectorizer) and adding auto-bridges to an existing stencil SVG so it cuts as one piece.
Does it handle colour images?
The image is reduced to a black-and-white mask before tracing, so colour is not preserved in the output. For multi-colour vectors, vectorize each colour channel separately in Illustrator or use a colour-capable tool.
How long does conversion take?
Typically 10 to 30 seconds depending on image size and complexity. Larger images and intricate edges take longer.
Can I use this for laser cutting?
Yes. Output is auto-bridged, sized at 150 mm wide by default, and exports both SVG and an R12 DXF. Compatible with LightBurn, RDWorks, the Glowforge App, xTool Creative Space, Cricut Design Space, and Silhouette Studio.
How big a file can I upload?
15 MB and roughly 4000 px on the longest side. Larger images are downscaled automatically.
Is it really free?
5 per IP per day with no account. 30 per day after a free signup. Past that, 1 credit per extra conversion. No watermark, no recurring charge.
How long do you keep my image?
Binaries are deleted from our servers within 24 hours. The image is processed in memory; we do not train AI models on user uploads.

JPGs carry a layer of compression noise PNG doesn't. This converter does a JPEG-aware cleanup pass before tracing, so photo logos and scanned sketches come out as crisp paths instead of confetti.
